Whether it's Android or iOS, it doesn't really matter. What I have done is, I've shifted the job of playing music from my computer to my phone. Though iTunes' performance leaves a lot to be desired, so maybe it should be on the faster machine. I know iTunes is not the best, but I have an iPhone and I need iTunes installed somewhere to manage my iPhone, which is why it's not on the desktop. On the PC, I use Aimp on the desktop and iTunes on the laptop. I didn't use Winamp's media library when it got added, and resented players that used them for the longest time.
I admit, I haven't found a full replacement for Winamp on the computer. I don't feel like there is any better alternative currently, even AIMP comes close. Seeing as it was last updated a decade ago, looking for a new one but I'm not in touch at all with what's going on, and from my experience both WMP and iTunes have been lacking.
